Fantastical Flying Jalopy

A project done for my 3D Animation 2 class.

My Jalopy was inspired by Viking ships, however it has a blimp and sails instead of oars. It has been rotting away in a river for hundreds of years, but now has awakened on its own. It takes off and flies over many countries, but eventualy can fly no more. Luckily, all those hundreds of years ago, they were smart enough to fill the blimp with helium, not hydrogen!!

Concept Sketches

My origional plan was to have the baloon within the ship hull, but my professor and I thought it would be more interesting to see it squash and stretch when taking off from the water, so that's what I did.
