Sculpture
Coming out of the Woodwork
Self Initiated, conceptual. 19"x17"x40" Metal frame, cement, paint. For this sculpture I created a chair out of concrete to look like wood, but I replaced the nails with tampons which stick out of the chair. Woodworking (creating the chair) is traditionally a man's job, but the tampons represent women who are now entering into men's fields of work and respect.
Haven
Self initiated. Approximately 18"x18"x16". Metal coils. There was a time I found it impossible to express myself by creating new art, but I found that this pile of coils held my exact feelings. Inside it I found a hibernating butterfly, who was using the seemingly uninhabitable ball as a shelter. For both of us this was a haven.
